VALENTINO Retrospective: Past, Present, Future! Australia says welcome to Haute Couture.

Another important retrospective about Valentino's maison is presented to the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) in Brisbane (Queensland, Australia) on august 7th until november 14th, 2010. Queensland Art Gallery's director Tony Ellwood said: "Valentino Retrospective: Past/Present/Future shows a series of amazing '50s haute couture designs by Valentino Garavani until his last collection in 2008; recent creations of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, that in October 2008 have been appointed creative director of the historic maison, remarking the avant-garde approach that distinguishes them. The retrospective consists of 100 pieces includes some of the most important creations originally presented in the exhibition "Valentino: Themes and Variations" at the Musée Les Arts Decoratifs in Paris, 2008. We're honored to be the exclusive site in Australia for this extraordinary exhibition that will appeal to fans of Valentino and fashion lovers across the nation". The exhibition, curated by Pamela Golbin, current chief-curator of Musée Les Arts Decoratifs in Paris, explores the techniques and recurring motifs like famous embroidery, the use of geometrical decorations, ornaments of various kinds, plissè and rouches, besides the creative possibilities offered by volumes, surfaces and lines.

The clothes worn by Hollywood stars and high society figures such as Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor and others are exposed with the amazing black and white skirt worn by Julia Roberts at the 73° Academy Awards in 2001.

Together to a complete series of the famous White Collection of Valentino 1968, the exhibition presents a selection of clothes Rosso Valentino, the first collection s/s 1959, and five creations that embody the reforming-spirit of new creative directors.

Un'altra importante mostra retrospettiva della maison Valentino è stata presentata alla Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), a Brisbane (Queensland) lo scorso 7 agosto e si protrarrà fino al 14 novembre 2010.
Il direttore della Queensland Art Gallery, Tony Ellwood, ha dichiarato "Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future mette in mostra una serie stupefacente di disegni d'alta moda di Valentino Garavani dalla fine degli anni '50 fino alla sua collezione di addio del 2008, oltre alle creazioni più recenti di Maria Grazia Chiuri e Pier Paolo Piccioli, che a ottobre 2008 sono stati nominati Direttori creativi della storica maison, mettendo in luce l’orientamento avanguardistico che li distingue. La retrospettiva composta da 100 pezzi comprende alcune delle più importanti creazioni presentate originariamente nella mostra "Valentino: Themes and Variations" presso il Musée des Arts Décoratifs di Parigi, nel 2008. Siamo onorati di essere la sede esclusiva in Australia di questa straordinaria mostra che attirerà gli appassionati di Valentino e gli amanti della moda da tutta la nazione."
La mostra, curata da Pamela Golbin, attuale curatore capo delle espozioni del Musée des Arts Décoratifs di Parigi, esplora le tecniche e i motivi ricorrenti del celebre stilista quali i ricami, l’uso di decori geometrici, ornamenti di diverso genere, plissè e rouches oltre alle possibilità creative offerte dai volumi, superfici e linee.
Gli abiti indossati dalle stelle di Hollywood e da personaggi dell’alta società quali Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor e altri saranno messi in mostra insieme alla stupefacente gonna bianca e nera indossata da Julia Roberts in occasione del 73° Academy Awards nel 2001.
In aggiunta a una serie di completi dalla famosa Collezione bianca di Valentino del 1968, la mostra presenta una selezione di abiti firmati Rosso Valentino, dalla prima collezione di moda primavera/estate 1959, e cinque creazioni che incarnano lo spirito riformatore dei nuovi direttori creativi.
