In the transience of our lives to know how to enjoy every moment and be able to exploit in functional way anything around us is surely a good thing, from time to material things that our life is full.
The amazing dutch duo Lernert & Sander knows this concept very well 'cause they are the creators of a funny (but also too reflexive) installation for the Selfridges' windows, one of the most famous chain of luxury department stores in London.
Their purpose is to take seven elements from our everyday domestic life, the most boring and banal, transforming them in art-works that make people think and to approach with sparkling fashion glamour...a sort of Dadaist process of the nineteenth century!
So, L&S said: "We wanted to turn stock items into startlingly smart footwear. A humorous take on fashion as an ideal escape from the daily grind", turning dishwasher in a oversize Chanel's clog, sewing machines in YSL's skyscrapers shoes, two communes electric irons in Stella McCartney's black stilettos...
Honesly I find the work so enjoyable and stimulating that it's almost a shame not to wear them really to deal with such determination boring routine that this installation wants to deny.
Nella fugacità della nostra vita è buona cosa saper godere di ogni attimo e saper sfruttare in modo funzionale qualsiasi cosa ci circondi, dal tempo stesso alle cose materiali di cui la nostra vita è piena. l'incredibile duo olandese Lernert & Sander devono conoscere questa nozione davvero bene perché sono i creatori di una divertentissima (ma anche riflessiva) installazione per le vetrine di Selfridges, una delle più famose catene di grandi magazzini di lusso di Londra. Il loro scopo era quello di prendere sette degli elementi della nostra quotidianeità casalinga, quelli più noiosi e banali, per trasformarli in opere d'arte che facessero riflettere e che si accostassero allo scintillio glamour della moda...una sorta di processo Dadaista del XIX secolo.
L&S hanno dichiarato infatti "We wanted to turn stock items into startlingly smart footwear. A humorous take on fashion as an ideal escape from the daily grind" trasformando una lavastoviglie in una gigante clog Chanel, macchine da cucito in delle YSL's skyscrapers shoes, dei comuni ferri da stiro in delle stilettos firmate Stella McCartney...
Sinceramente trovo l'operazione così divertente e stimolante che è quasi un peccato non poterle indossare veramente per affrontare con tanta grinta quella noiosa routine che questa installazione contesta.
