Victor Blanco: through fashion on his stilettos!

Between various personalities of fashion system there is always someone who impresses us more than others with some original ideas or simply with sympathy and curiosity. Among the people you can see at fashionweeks there is a man that interests me: Victor Blanco, noted spanish stylist/lookmaker with a passion for stiletto shoes. Yes! That's it! Vivienne Westwod taught us long time ago there isn't limit to your creativity (remember her famous menshow where beautiful men wore too high heels on catwalk) and Victor knows it very well! Intrigued by his style choices but also by his dedication to the spanish fashionweek's events, I asked to him some questions...

We know you are a fashion stylist and a celebrities lookmaker very wanted in your country and beyond it, how important is fashion to you? Instead how much important is personal style and natural inclination to the elgance to you? What is your idea of style and how would you describe your personal style?

VB: Fashion is my live.... is my passion... so I live it like that, as a passion. i like to wear whatever I want to.. no matter trends. colour, shapes.... only the fact I like what I'm wearing and the most important thing, that all mix together looks great, so it's very important the personality of each person to wear clothes, not to be worn by clothes!

I follow your work and I know very well how much dedication you showed to bring fashionweek of your country at the same level and popularity as the other european FWs like Milan or Paris. What do you think about creativity of spanish designers, and what are the possibilities of Madrid and Valencia's fashionweeks?

VB: We have very good designers, really... when i dress a client y try to look for spanish brands, but honestly, to be out there in fashion magazines or blogs, you need to put your clients international brands... i hope someday the spanish fashion will be huge as was with Paco Rabanne, Pertegaz or Balenciaga. That time has to come again, as we have an enormous fashion industry in my country.

What is your favorite spanish designers or brand of the moment? and among others international designers who do you love?

VB: There's a young boy, Juan Vidal, it's beyong AMAZING..... he's works it's simply perfection. Also my beloved friends as Angel Schlesser or Amaya Arzuaga, they are great designers!

Victor Blanco always arouses much clamour when he walks a redcarpet because frequently wearing gritty high heels, like a topmodel. Why this approach to female aesthetics of "stiletto" and what it means for you? what is the message?

VB: The message is, wear what you want that fits you and make you stylish and different, without being tacky! heels were designed for men, so i'm not stealing anything... just going back at time where one time men wore heels... that's all.

Do you think "Men on high heels" is a courage choice of some people or can it become a true reality, perhaps with the creation of a heels' labels designed specifically for fashion victims men?

VB: I'm not expecting guys to wear heels... only to have fun with them, always that our size let us play with them.... i'm a 38 so they fit me perfect with my long legs... if someday i'm sizes bigger, my stilletos will be out of my closet!

Last question: What are the essentials in your bag?

VB: Lot of crap! hehehe, my Ipad, my Mac Air in case i travel, Bobbi Brown leather cosmetic bag with some products as perfum, lip balm... my Chanel wallet most of the days, my Montblanc pen and notebook, my home keys and not much more...

Tra le varie personalità del fashion system c'è sempre qualcuno che ci colpisce più di altri per qualche trovata originale o semplicemente per simpatia e curiosità. Tra i personaggi delle fashionweeks che mi incuriosiscono molto c'è anche lui: Victor Blanco, affermato stylist/lookmaker di origini spagnole con la passione per lo stiletto. Si, avete capito bene! Come Vivienne Westwood insegnò tempo fa (ricordiamo una sua famosa sfilata menswear in cui mandò in passerella bellissimi uomini su vertiginosi tacchi a spillo) non c'è limite al proprio estro e Victor lo sa bene.
Incuriosito dalle sue scelte di stile ma anche dal suo impegno nella settimana della moda spagnola, gli ho fatto qualche domanda...

Sappiamo tu sei uno fashion stylist e un celebrities lookmaker molto quotato nel tuo paese e non solo; quanta importanza ha per te la moda e quanta ne ha invece lo stile personale e la naturale predisposizione all'eleganza? Quale è la tua idea di stile? e come descriveresti il tuo stile personale?

VB: La moda è la mia vita, è la mia passione e mi piace viverla così, come una passione. Mi piace indossare quello che voglio al di là delle tendenze. colore, forme...la cosa più importante è il fatto che mi piace ciò che sto indossando e che tutto sembra mescolarsi alla grande. La personalità della persona che sta indossando qualcosa è molto importante perchè siamo noi ad indossare un vestito e non il contrario.

Io che seguo già da un po' il tuo lavoro, consco molto bene quanto impegno stai dimostrando nel cercare di portare le fashionweek del tuo paese allo stesso livello delle altre FW d'Europa come quella milanese o quella parigina. Cosa pensi della creatività dei designers spagnoli e quali sono le possibilità della settimana della moda di Madrid e Valencia?

VB: Noi abbiamo ottimi designers, davvero. Quando vesto una celebrity guardo sempre i brands spagnoli, ma onestamente, non c'è nulla di questi sulle riviste di moda o sui blog più seguiti e un cliente ha bisogno di indossare marchi internazionali. Spero che un giorno il made in spain sia grande, come è stato con Paco Rabbanne, Pertegaz o Balenciaga. Quest'era tornerà di nuovo perchè in Spagna abbiamo una grandissima industria della moda.

Quale è il tuo designers spagnolo preferito? e tra i grandi della moda chi ti colpisce maggiormente?

VB: C'è un ragazzo giovane, Juan Vidal, è oltremodo fantastico, il suo lavoro è semplicemente la perfezione. Anche i miei cari amici Angel Schlesser e Amaya Arzuaga sono grandi designers!

Victor Blanco suscita sempre molto clamore quando arriva su qualche redcarpet perchè la maggior parte delle volte indossa delle grintosissime scarpe dai tacchi vertiginosi, degni di una topmodel. Come mai questo avvicinamento all'estetica femminile dello stiletto e cosa siginifica per te? quale è il messaggio?

VB: Il messaggio è quello di indossare ciò che si desidera, che sia parte di te e che ti dia un'immagine stilosa e differente ma senza essere di cattivo gusto! I tacchi furono ideati per gli uomini quindi non sto inventando nulla, basta solo guardarsi indietro, questo è tutto!

Pensi che "men on high heels" sia solo la coragiosa scelta di pochi oppure possa diventare una vera realtà, magari con la creazione da parte delle case di moda di una linea di heels studiate appositamente per i fashion victim uomini?

VB: Non mi aspetto che tutti i ragazzi indossino i tacchi ma solo che si divertano con loro...sempre che le nostre "dimensioni" ci permettano di farlo. Io porto il 38 quindi sono perfetti con le mie ganbe lunghe, ma se un giorno dovessi crescere di taglia, i miei stiletto sarebbero banditi dal mio armadio!

Quali sono i pezzi immancabili nella tua borsa?

VB: Un sacco di cazzate! hehehe! Il mio iPad, il mio Mac Air nel caso in cui sia in viaggio, il mio portatrucchi di cuoio firmato Bobbi Brown con alcuni cosmetici come profumo e lipbalm, il mio portafogli Chanel, la mia penna Montblanc con l'agenda, le mie chiavi di casa e non molto altro...
