Vogue Fashion's Night Out Rome 2011 - The first edition.

Rome, the city that we thought died under the weight of its political and religious role, seems to have attracted back the attention that the fashion biz, long time ago, reserved to her. Thursday, September 15th, in fact, Rome will host the first edition of Vogue Fashion's Night Out, an fashion event for charity has proven a massive success in all world capitals. For this occasion, boutiques, griffes and emerging young designers will open the doors of their worlds together to celebrate the beauty of creativity and individual expression. The streets of the trident, from via del Babuino to Rione Monti, will come to life for a night of shopping and fashion fun: cocktail parties, inauguration, presentations and limited edition items specially created to support this initiative signed Vogue. Among the most interesting (which you can find detail on the VFNO's website) Fashilosophy recommends: Valentino and REDValentino, with their cocktail parties at the boutiques of Via Condotti and Via del Babuino, where you can admire the collections and be captivated by Valentino's world, accompanied by a super dj set and classy glamour. Second event not to be missed is Hoss Intropia, the Spanish brand which will celebrate its arrival in Rome with the inauguration of its first flagship store in Via due Macelli, near Piazza di Spagna, the heart of Rome. To warm up the evening Hoss will be a minimalist-chic (the boutique set is amazing), the music of Lara Martelli and his band and of course Mojitos a go-go. And to make you fall in love, Hoss has created a limited edition gadget, which will be given to those who take wild shopping!
On via Frattina, the roman boutique of
Patrizia Pepe will present "Tribal Excess" with a special DJ set Ema Stokholm. Nobody knows what it is, but we are very curious to find out.
To conclude the Fashilosophy's tour will be Rione Monti with all its indi shops where young designers create and sell their handmade concept collection, a mix of creativity and a modern reinterpretation of the tailoring and handmade.

Ps: The night of fashion turns
Campari red: once again, this year, the historic brand will be the official drink of Vogue Fashion's Night Out. A marriage, that between fashion and Campari, made even stronger by the presentation in Rome, on September 15, of the Red Passion Prize, an award that not only will be given to the personality who embodies Italian passion and excellence in the world, but also to a woman and a man who were able to better interpret - and be ambassadors of - the Italian style.

Maria Francesca Pepe caught us in a trap! Gothic glam trap!

With the start of the fashion month just a few weeks away we're all scrambling to put together our looks whether we're sitting front row at Dolce&Gabbana or standing outside Michael Kors hoping to be snapped by the likes of The Sartorialist or Tommy Ton. We at Fashilosophy have always been MAJOR lovers of fierce accesories and in the search for the finishing touches to our Milan fashion week outfits stumbled upon Maria Francesca Pepe.

Crafted by italian artisans but completely influenced by the London avant garde scene the pieces range from ornate gothic headpieces to simple cross necklaces and studded double rings. The concept of Maria Francesca Pepe is revolutionary, her "Jewellery-Wear" blurs the line between clothing and accessories while retaining the functionality of both with the latter being the main feature. The iconic tubular bracelet has become a sort of cult classic worn by everybody from Jennifer Lopez to Beth Ditto. Nicola Formichetti also often goes to Maria Francesca Pepe when he needs a special pieces commisioned for Lady Gaga.
Maria initially studied literature at Milan University for 2 years before realizing her true calling was in fashion and transferring to Istituto Marangoni and pursuing a BA in womenswear fashion before going on to achieve an MA at the prestigious
Central Saint Martins in London. Before finally starting her label she briefly worked for Vivienne Westwood as well as Jens Laugesen for the spring/summer 2008 season. Immediately after her first show she had buyers from all over clamoring to carry her line, from Dover Street Market to Henri Bendel and LuisaViaRoma.

In 2009 she was nominated for Emerging Talent in Accessories at the British Fashion Awards. Although Maria did not win you wouldn't be able to tell from her soaring popularity and social relevance especially with her loyal fanbase of celebrities. Steven Klein, Nick Knight and Nicola Formichetti are huge fans of her designs and often incorporate pieces into their editorials.
A must have for the fashionista who doen't mind a little edge on the competition, Maria Francesca Pepe says in her own words "I sell objects of desire" and she's absolutely right.

REDValentino's Pop up Greenhouse!

If you are a romantic woman, you will fall in love with the magical surrounding.
The collection was created solely for this fairytale space: each garment and accessory was especially designed and presented in this dreamy, light-hearted setting. Flirty garments and accessories are playfully paired up with garden elements. Work aprons and rubber galoshes becomes whimsical accessories for overalls, while flowers and butterflies embellish the fabrics of dresses, skirts, and accessories, all in a burst of colourful prints.
Even the colours are inspired by nature: rose, hyacinth, and thyme are used on natural materials that are traditional elements of the
RED Valentino world.

Dolce & Gabbana: Spring/Summer 2012 Menswear.

The collection is built around one idea: "THE NET." It is presented in different sizes, colours and materials and used either in transparent or lined in washed cotton poplin for jackets, trousers, Bermuda shorts, T-shirts, bomber jackets, tracksuits and sweaters.

In addition to the "NET," the presence of silk/wool mohair tailored suits is still strong and characterised by new proportions for the lapels, the length and the construction.

Versace meets H&M - Another collaboration for the biggest swedish brand.

Riding the wave of success after the most recent collaboration with Lanvin, swedish fast fashion brand H&M announced today they would be doing collaboration with Versace this fall filled with studded leather, bold prints and vibrant colors with around 40 pieces for women and 20 for men as well as accessories and pieces for the home.
BUT WAIT!? Does anybody remember back in 2008 when Donatella Versace told people in NY she would never do a diffusion line? Seems the designer has had a change of heart. She once stated that a diffusion line would “confuse” the brand. But what will a mainstream brand like H&M do to the lofty and exclusive world of Versace? Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M said: 'Versace is one of the most important brands of recent times, and their collection for H&M will be glamorous and flamboyant – everything Versace stands for. As Italian fashion blogger
Andrea Ravieli said on his blog of the recent Lanvin collaboration “Isn't it just a cheap copy in the end? “ What do you think?

MAGGIE JEANS - Women will save the world!

Is there anyone who still thinks that feminism is dead? I don't think it.
The feminist, revised and updated, is now a real part of our society and sides with its opposite not to claim something, but rather to confirm that women-in-power have always worked and always will work good way, just look at Michelle Obama, Anna Wintour, Hillary Clinton and many others.
Fashilosophy is always on the women's side, especially women of fashion, therefore we wanna talk about a new brand that just raised, has already done so much to talk about itself, for quality of its fashion concept and the initiatives to which it has joined, immediately creating a brand-loyalty relationship with its followers through a cross-media promotion and communication strategy, which emphasizes the great care that the brand reserves to virtual reality and blogging, now a reference point for fashionsystem.
Maggie Jeans, this is its name, offers us a strong and determined woman, who is aware of who is and what she wants. Not just a matter of jeans, but a real philosophy. Women will save the world, the pay-off chosen by Maggie Jeans, clearly expresses the message by combining the finest collections in a strong social spirit. Could you get anymore? Sure! During the last edition of FashionCamp, the MJ's team has launched a fresh and fun contest, "Looking for Maggie" with the aim of finding the real Maggie, the blogger who truly reflects the spirit of the brand, in flesh and blood...and MJ's jeans. The name of the winner will be announced in September and the girl chosen will become the editor of brand's blog for a whole year. That's great. The initiative has a very simple format of participation and you will find all the information here.
What you waiting for?!

Fashilosophy's best of the MET Gala 2011.

Last night at the Metropolitan Museum, was celebrated the annual Gala of the Costume Institute, this year dedicated to the genius of Alexander McQueen. Watching and commenting about redcarpet we have decreed the our three best outfits.

At first position we put doubtless a beautiful Jessica Stam dressed by Tommy Hilfiger's blush pink strapless dress. Elegant and refined, make up and coiffed like a fairytale princess. She catch our hearts!

At second position we put an androgynous Hilary Rhoda, dressed by a beautiful and fresh Alexander McQueen's white dress-suit. A vintage hairstyle and red lipstick transforming this beautiful woman in a new Greta Garbo.

At third position we put an always wonderfully classy Natalia Vodianova, dressed by a vintage Haute Couture creation of her accompanist for the Gala, Mr. Valentino. This dress belongs to the collection that the couturier created for his 45 years carrer show, in Rome.

According Fashilosophy these are the three most beautiful and elegant mises of the Gala. But amid so much beauty can't go unnoticed even bad taste: Naomi Campbell, the Black Venus historic character of the most famous catwalks, came to the gala with a questionable outfit. Dress by Alexander McQueen was amazing, but she looks kitsch, old and grotesque at the same time. Naomi NO! From you we can't accept it!

Olivier Rousteing new Creative Director of BALMAIN!

As the newly crowned creative director of Balmain, you can imagine my surprise when seeing the image of Olivier Rousteing and thinking, ‘why is he not a model?’.

Interesting is the fact that the house of balmain announced last week that a new talent would come to the forefront, someone who was not known to the masses & it seems as though a new revitalization of the french fashion house is waiting in the wings. rousteing has already attained experience working at Roberto Cavalli for 5 years & was promoted to head of design for both men & women’s ready-to-wear. Rousteing has risen through the ranks while being in charge of womenswear at Balmain since 2009. while some forms of hesitation are felt on my part, given the redundancy of design seen from balmain for the last few seasons- im more than eager to see how rousteing’s vision will allow the label to transform. prior to his work in the industry, Olivier had completed studies of fashion design at paris’ école supérieure des arts et techniques de la mode in 2003. French-born, it seems only fitting that olivier take the wheel at the legendary fashion house, that has been in existence since 1945, which expanded stateside in 1951. much like Sarah Burton to Alexander McQueen, Rousteing was reportedly key deputy to Christophe Decarnin & is more than likely is the best fit for the position. exciting new prospects & more for us to watch on the runway. with show season nearly six months away, im sure im not the only one who will be waiting with bated breath. word to Balmain; save some coins & cast olivier for your Balmain homme campaign.

Emozionanti nuove prospettive quindi.

Animating Chanel Cosmetics videopromo! Really Funny!

A jet-propelled robot, a beaming sun god and an impish spider are not the likeliest of characters to embody the ultra-luxurious world of Chanel, but Peter Philips, the innovative mind behind them, has made his name pursuing the unexpected. Chanel’s Global Creative Director of Makeup took a break from conceptualizing cosmetic gold to don the animator’s cap for today’s short, a work inspired by a series of headdresses he crafted from beauty product packaging for a Vogue Paris shoot. Built from a trove of compacts, glosses, brushes and more, Philips’s characters embark on a journey that begins with a lipstick-powered automaton blasting through the clouds and ends on more familiar ground, with a model whose chic ensemble channels Mme Chanel herself. Philips came to the task with the requisite technical skills, having studied graphic design before attending Antwerp's Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts. But he did concede on one creative point—the music. “If it were up to me it would have been disco,” he confesses.
